What has tourism done for you? Do you walk the trails in your town? Have you visited the Canada Games Center? Taken your children to the playground? If yes, then you've seen the benefit of the tourism industry! Each year the Yukon hosts thousands of visitors, the people from abroad who bring millions of dollars to the economy - helping us create services like walking trails, fitness facilities, and much more! So how do you get involved in this wonderful and exciting business of tourism? Chances are you're already involved! Whether you work as a gas station attendant, cashier, or a tour guide, you are an integral part of a visitors experience. Everytime you talk to a tourist on the street or in a business, you're offering them information to enrich their stay in the Yukon. And the happier visitors are, the more likely they are to return or tell their friends. Remember, we are all a part of the tourism industry. We all play a role in it's success, and we all reap the benefits it brings to our lives, whether it be through jobs, or facilities that we take advantage of in our day to day lives. Familiarize yourself with your land, and be willing to take the extra step to help out tourists. After all, isn't it time for you to get in the picture? |
