Tourism Industry Identification Program
Looking to TIP the scales in favour of your Yukon travel business? The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) has launched a Tourism Industry Identification Program (TIP) card that identifies professionals, students and executives allied with or working in the tourism industry.
TIA Yukon is pleased to join TIA Canada in encouraging tourism industry professionals to sign up for TIP cards. In particular, TIA Yukon has negotiated a $20 discount for TIA Yukon members. Joining this program would assist Yukon tourism operators in locating, enticing and retaining qualified, trained tourism industry professionals, thereby helping to overcome deficits caused by the labour shortage.
What is a TIP card? The TIP card is a source of identification that indicates a person works within Canada’s tourism industry. TIP cardholders are members who enjoy many exclusive benefits including access to discounts from affiliated tourism organizations for travel, accommodation and events or attractions in Canada.
Who is eligible for a TIP card? The tourism industry identification cards are available to people working in the tourism industry including:
- Employees of tourism businesses that are members of TIA Yukon and other tourism industry associations
- People currently studying in a tourism-related education program, such as the Tourism Studies and Management Certificate offered at Yukon College.
How does it work? You and your employees can sign up for a TIP card online at www.tip.travel. Within 3-4 weeks of submitting your signed application, you will receive your TIP card and be able to enjoy another benefit of your career in the Yukon and Canadian tourism industries; you will have access to discounts on travel products and services from a number of TIP’s partners, and access to recognition as a tourism industry employee, student or executive.
How would TIP help my Yukon tourism business? There are a number of ways in which tourism businesses operating in the Yukon can benefit from TIP:
- Locating quality tourism staff – By advertising job postings on the TIP website, you can gain access to approximately 40,000 experienced, dedicated staff who have affiliated themselves professionally with the tourism industry, and whose work histories and Emerit Certifications can be verified via their TIP memberships.
- Increasing Industry Recognition – Through your TIP membership you gain national recognition as a tourism industry employer or executive.
- Receiving Industry Updates – As an official TIP cardholder you are kept aware of trends and changes in the Canadian tourism industry via the quarterly newsletter and partner promotions.
