Background
The GCSF was established by the Tourism Industry Association of Yukon (TIAY) in 2002, in memory of Giovanni Castellarin, long time champion of tourism for the Klondike and the Yukon.
The GCSF is designed to assist Yukoners who are entering post-secondary education in the field of tourism or related studies. One $1000 scholarship will be awarded each year.
Application Criteria
- Priority will be given to Yukon residents (youth or mature)
- Should be Grade 12 graduate or equivalent completion
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must be entering or currently enrolled in a post-secondary tourism related program
- Funds can be applied to course registration, books, costs of living, other (as approved)
Documents Required
- Completed GCSF application form available for download here
- Official transcript from grade 12 or equivalent education program
- Proof of acceptance from post secondary institution in full-time tourism related studies
- Short essay about your vision for Yukon tourism and your interest in a tourism career
Process
- 2011 applications will be accepted between November 7 and December 2, 2011
- Decisions will be communicated to successful applicants by mid December
- Scholarship cheques will be payable directly to successful applicants after submission and acceptance of proof of registration and copies of receipts for eligible costs
