LIAN DUMOUCHEL
Entrepreneurship, innovation, product development and marketing – with an emphasis on small firms. What sounds like a conference wish list for TIA Yukon members also happens to be the areas of expertise for Professor Lian Dumouchel joining us from the School of Tourism at Thompson Rivers University (TRU).
Recipient of a 2010 Teaching Excellence Award, Lian has been with Thompson Rivers since 1994. She helped to develop and launch the Bachelor of Tourism Management degree program there in 1997, the Entrepreneurship Major within that program in 2003 and a suite of tourism-related Post-Baccalaureate diplomas in 2011.
Lian has been Program Coordinator, Chair and International Academic Coordinator for the School of Tourism, as well as a Senator and member of the Board of Governors of the University. She has developed and taught courses and training programs both in corporate and academic settings including the “Successful Homepreneur” series. Before joining Thompson Rivers, Lian owned and operated her own small business consulting firm in Montreal, where for nine years she served clients from such diverse sectors as hospitality and tourism, manufacturing, telecommunications, and retail.
Lian has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Marketing from Concordia
University (1982) and an M.B.A. in Small Business Management from McGill University (1985).
